What is a Shaft Drive Mechanism in a 3-speed bicycle?

A shaft drive uses a shaft that rotates within the bicycle frame and uses bevel gears to transfer pedal power directly to the rear wheel. The Sturney archer in the 3 speed internal gear hub coupled with Steed Propeller shaft drive system comes with following ratios 

1st Gear – 4.00 Mtrs
2nd Gear – 5.65 Mtrs
3rd Gear – 7.08 Mtrs

Which cycle is best for daily use and low maintenance?

All Steed cycles are chainless, so there is no chain cleaning, oiling or greasy clothes. For heavy daily commuting, choose a shaft drive model, which is designed to last 15,000 km or more and carries a 5-year warranty. For lighter daily use, fitness or leisure, belt drive models are quiet and cost less.

What is the difference between single speed and three speed?

Single-speed cycles are simple and suit flat city roads. Three-speed models use a Sturmey-Archer internal gear hub with a twist shifter on the handlebar. The gears sit inside the hub, so there is no derailleur or exposed gear parts to adjust or clean, which makes slopes and longer rides easier.

Which model and size is right for me or my child?

 Choose by rider height:

  • Kids, 4 to 5 feet: ABR 20 and ABR 24
  • Ladies' models: size 42 (ABS 42, AS 42, SSU 42, TSW 42)
  • Riders within 5 feet (young adults and adults): size 48 models
  • Riders 5 feet and above: size 52 models
  • Riders 6 feet and above: size 54 and 56 (three-speed models TR, TS and TCS)

Which models have disc brakes?

All AS models, the 52 sizes of SR and SS, all Ashva ABS models, and the TS, TSW and TCS three speed models have disc brakes. TCS has hydraulic disc brakes. SR 48, SS 48, SSU 42 and TR use V-brakes, and the kids' ABR 20 and 24 use power brakes.

Which is the most affordable chainless cycle?

Our Ashva belt drive models are the most affordable, starting from ₹11,980. Shaft drive models cost more but are built for longer life and carry a longer warranty.

How long does delivery take, and is EMI available?

Delivery takes 1-2 days within Tamil Nadu and about 4 days outside Tamil Nadu, with a commission charge of ₹750 (charges may vary by location). EMI is available through our checkout partners, and you can see the options at the payment step.

What warranty do I get?

Shaft drive systems have a 5-year warranty and belt drive systems 1 year. Aluminium alloy frames have 5 years and steel frames 2 years.
